eXroid® is an advanced, non-surgical electrotherapy treatment for internal haemorrhoids (piles)1 that uses a controlled, low-level electrical current to reduce blood supply to the haemorrhoidal tissue, causing it to shrink over time without cutting, stitching, anaesthesia, or significant downtime.
The procedure is typically quick and minimally invasive, allowing many patients to return to normal activities soon after treatment.
eXroid® is suitable for all 4 grades of haemorrhoids. Even if you are unsure of the grade, you can still be assessed and treated with the eXroid® procedure, without needing surgery.

The eXroid® procedure uses electrotherapy, a technique that has been clinically researched for more than 150 years.
It is a non-surgical, out-patient procedure performed in a clinic setting by a colorectal specialist. A low-dose electrical current triggers a chemical reaction that creates an alkaline environment and seals the blood vessels feeding the haemorrhoid. Because the blood supply is reduced, the haemorrhoid shrinks over time, which typically leads to symptom relief.
There is no cutting, stitching or heat involved. The treatment effect can continue to close the vessels for up to 4 weeks. At about 4 weeks after treatment, we recommend a review appointment to go through your treatment notes, discuss symptom changes and progress, and consider whether any additional treatment may be needed.
