Good outcomes for mothers and babies can only be achieved by ensuring that healthcare professionals are knowledgeable, holistic, ethical, and safe; by ensuring continued acquisition of sound scientific knowledge, effective execution of ethically robust healthcare policies and guidelines, and by assuring equitable access to healthcare. The high burden of healthcare to provide these necessities has therefore motivated the scientific committee to choose "Strengthening Perinatal Care: Back to Basics" as the theme for the 29th Regional Congress of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia.
 

This annual congress has always been an important event for Perinatal Healthcare providers. Additionally, this year is particularly special as it marks the first physical meeting since the pandemic. Apart from the submission of abstracts showcasing good perinatal research, the scientific committee has invited experts from the UK, India, Australia, Singapore, as well as local experts from throughout Malaysia. These experts will cover a wide range of topics, including the basic knowledge of maternal and infant nutrition, antenatal care, resuscitation of mothers and stabilization of babies, delivery room and neonatal intensive care practices, perinatal healthcare policies, and perinatal palliative care. It is hoped that these discussions will help improve the outcomes for both mothers and babies, ensuring a better future.
