On December 5, Getz Healthcare (Malaysia) proudly hosted an event that brought together medical professionals from various states and disciplines to explore the EKOS Endovascular System. Designed as a platform for peer-to-peer learning and to establish referral systems between hospitals, the event allowed attendees to gain a comprehensive understanding of EKOS directly from doctors with hands-on experience.

The event took place at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2), chosen due to the interest and dedication shown by the doctors and nursing staff towards EKOS beforehand. The day began with an educational session on pulmonary embolism by Dr. Ganeshwara Durai Raja Lingam. His session set the stage for Dr. Navin Sukilan from Subang Jaya Medical Centre. Dr. Navin engaged the audience with his personal experiences performing EKOS procedures—no doubt the highlight session that resonated with all attendees, particularly the doctors, sparking meaningful questions and conversations.

In the afternoon, the Getz Healthcare Malaysia team took center stage, facilitating hands-on demonstrations and user training. This interactive segment allowed participants to gain exposure to EKOS in a practical and engaging manner.

The event welcomed a mix of cardiologists, interventional radiologists, nurses, radiographers, and technicians. These attendees ranged from EKOS users to those exploring it for the first time. It was fascinating to listen to the collaborative discussions and cross-disciplinary learning between cardiologists and interventional radiologists. Many doctors expressed newfound confidence in EKOS after hearing firsthand accounts from their peers and were excited about starting their own EKOS cases. The respective medical teams also enjoyed the hands-on session, gaining a clearer understanding of the technology’s application.

With a full house, insightful discussions, and positive energy throughout, the event was a success. It showcased the power of collaboration, the shared pursuit of medical excellence, and the role EKOS plays in the medical field. It also reaffirmed Getz Healthcare’s passion for continuing to host educational programs that not only showcase the potential of EKOS but also empower healthcare professionals and strengthen partnerships within the healthcare community to improve patient outcomes and advance endovascular medicine.
